‘Black Clover’ Season 2 Finally Confirms Its Return With New Details

After years of waiting and enough fan theories to fill multiple grimoires, Black Clover Season 2 has officially confirmed its return. Along with the release window announcement, fans also received several production updates. These include returning staff members and details about a special early screening at Anime Expo 2026. For longtime viewers who never gave up on Asta’s dream of becoming the Wizard King, this is the update they have been waiting for.

Black Clover Season 2 Will Premiere Early at Anime Expo

Fans attending Anime Expo 2026 will get an early look at the new season before its television debut.

The first episode of Black Clover Season 2 will screen during a special panel on July 4. Gakuto Kajiwara, the Japanese voice of Asta, and director Ayataka Tanemura will attend the event.

Additionally, Crunchyroll has previously confirmed that it will stream Black Clover Season 2 when the series begins airing.

Why This Return Matters to Fans

The return of Black Clover Season 2 marks the end of one of anime fandom’s longest waits in recent years. Since the original series ended in 2021, fans have eagerly anticipated news about Asta and the Black Bulls’ next adventure.

Online discussions leading up to the announcement reflected both excitement and cautious optimism. Some fans preferred to wait for official confirmation before celebrating, especially after years of rumors and speculation. Others debated whether the new installment should technically be considered Season 2, Season 5, or even Season 6.

The confusion largely stems from the original anime airing continuously from October 2017 through March 2021 without seasonal breaks. While streaming platforms divided episodes into separate seasons for organizational purposes, the production team officially refers to this continuation as Black Clover Season 2.

Regardless of what fans call it, the overwhelming reaction has been excitement. After all, Asta’s refusal to give up has always been one of the series’ defining traits. It feels fitting that the fandom showed the same determination while waiting for this announcement.

Also, let’s be honest. Anime watchlists may be terrifyingly long, but somehow we always make room for the Black Bulls.

A Look Back at Black Clover‘s Journey

Yuki Tabata began serializing the original Black Clover manga in Weekly Shonen Jump in February 2015. The series later moved to Jump GIGA in December 2023 before concluding serialization in May 2026. To date, 37 collected volumes have been released in Japan.

The first anime adaptation, directed by Tatsuya Yoshihara and produced by Studio Pierrot, aired from October 2017 until March 2021. The series totaled 170 episodes.

The franchise later expanded with the release of Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King, which debuted in Japan in March 2023.

Where to Watch Black Clover

Crunchyroll currently streams the original Black Clover anime series. The platform has also confirmed that it will stream Black Clover Season 2 when it premieres.

Crunchyroll describes the series:

In a world where magic is everything, Asta and Yuno are both found abandoned at a church on the same day. While Yuno is gifted with exceptional magical powers, Asta is the only one in this world without any. At the age of fifteen, both receive grimoires, magic books that amplify their holder’s magic.

Asta’s is a rare Grimoire of Anti-Magic that negates and repels his opponent’s spells. Being opposite but good rivals, Yuno and Asta are ready for the hardest of challenges to achieve their common dream: to be the Wizard King. Giving up is never an option!

After more than five years away, Black Clover Season 2 is finally ready to continue Asta’s story. With returning staff, an Anime Expo premiere event, and streaming confirmed through Crunchyroll, fans will soon reunite with the Black Bulls.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I need to prepare emotionally for Asta shouting at maximum volume again. Some traditions are simply sacred.
