What Is Millennium Family About?
If this announcement has you wondering what Millennium Family actually is, you’re not alone.
The manga, written and illustrated by Akira Kasugai, began serialization in Young King OURs in 2021. Rather than focusing on a typical fantasy hero, the story follows the Benfield family—seven immortal siblings born in England who have lived for more than a thousand years. Their immortality might sound like the ultimate gift, but it also makes them targets for criminals, military organizations, and anyone else hoping to unlock the secret to eternal life.
After spending centuries scattered across the world, the siblings reunite, only to discover that living together again may be just as chaotic as the dangers hunting them. The series blends action with family comedy, using the siblings’ wildly different personalities and centuries of history to create plenty of humorous moments alongside the more serious conflicts.
Honestly, that’s the part that caught my attention. I’m usually more likely to reach for a romance or comedy than a straight action series, so the mix of immortal family chaos and comedy sounds like a fun change of pace.

Early Fan Reactions Are Filled with Curiosity
One of the more interesting things about the announcement is that it doesn’t seem to be coming from an already massive franchise. Early discussions online show that plenty of anime fans are discovering Millennium Family for the first time thanks to the adaptation.
At the same time, readers familiar with the manga have been encouraging newcomers to give it a chance. Several fans pointed to its balance of grounded action, comedy, and quirky family dynamics as the biggest reason they’re excited to see it animated. Others simply felt it was a solid choice for an adaptation, even if it flew under many people’s radar before now.
There’s still a lot we don’t know about the Millennium Family anime adaptation, but that’s pretty normal for a brand-new announcement. Even so, the premise feels refreshingly different from the flood of fantasy series we’ve seen lately. Between the immortal siblings, action, and family comedy, this is definitely one I’ll be keeping an eye on as more information rolls out. My watchlist really didn’t need another addition … but here we are.
