Reincarnated in a Mafia Dating Sim is officially moving forward as a TV anime series.

Now, this is not technically the first time we have heard about the anime adaptation. News of the project originally circulated in November 2025. However, a new update published on July 29 confirms that the adaptation will be a television anime. Basically, the anime industry has checked in to tell us, “Yes, we are still making this. Please stop staring at the door.”

Unfortunately, that confirmation (via Crunchyroll) is about all we have right now.

There is still no announced studio, premiere window, staff lineup, trailer, or anime voice cast. That means fans will have to continue waiting for the truly juicy details. Still, knowing that the project remains alive and is officially being developed for television is better than letting the original announcement drift into the adaptation void.

What Is Reincarnated in a Mafia Dating Sim About?

Reincarnated in a Mafia Dating Sim is based on the light novel series written by Touko Amekawa, the creator of 7th Time Loop: The Villainess Enjoys a Carefree Life Married to Her Worst Enemy!.

The story follows Francesca Calvino, the teenage daughter of a powerful mafia family. She also remembers her previous life as a Japanese girl who happened to be the granddaughter of a yakuza boss.

Francesca eventually realizes that she has been reincarnated as the protagonist of an otome game she played in her previous life. Since she knows how the game’s story unfolds, she decides to change her fate and escape the criminal underworld.

There is just one tiny, villain-shaped problem.

Francesca attempts to end her engagement to Leonardo Aldini, the cruel and manipulative main villain of the game. However, her efforts “only make him more interested in her.”

Of course they do.

Nothing attracts an emotionally questionable fictional man faster than a woman actively attempting to escape his entire storyline.

Why 7th Time Loop Fans Should Be Excited

I should clarify that I have not personally watched 7th Time Loop yet, despite it living on my watchlist for what feels like twelve business years.

The biggest reason is that I have only found it available with subtitles where I watch. I am not opposed to watching anime subbed, but the timing has to be right. Subtitles require focus, and I have children. Children can apparently sense the exact moment you need to read an important line of dialogue and will immediately begin asking questions, arguing, or creating a mysterious crashing noise in another room.

Because of that, I cannot personally tell you how good 7th Time Loop is. I am not going to put on a fake fan hat and start reviewing a series I have never watched.

What I do know is that 7th Time Loop has become incredibly popular among romance anime fans. Another series from Amekawa receiving an anime adaptation is naturally exciting for the audience that already loves her characters, romantic tension, and reincarnation stories.

This Premise Feels Perfect for Raeliana Fans Too

The premise also immediately made me think of Why Raeliana Ended Up at the Duke’s Mansion.

That series is one of my top comfort anime, and it is probably the biggest reason I suspect I would enjoy both 7th Time Loop and Reincarnated in a Mafia Dating Sim. All three fall beneath that deliciously dramatic romance umbrella where a woman knows something terrible is supposed to happen to her and tries to outmaneuver fate.

Naturally, her survival plan places her directly in the path of a powerful man who is dangerous, difficult, suspiciously attractive, or some cursed combination of all three.

Francesca trying to escape an engagement to the game’s top villain, only to make him even more interested in her, sounds exactly like the sort of romantic disaster I enjoy watching unfold from the safety of my couch.

For now, fans will have to wait for more information about the Reincarnated in a Mafia Dating Sim TV anime. However, the renewed confirmation is still encouraging, especially for 7th Time Loop fans eager to see another one of Touko Amekawa’s stories animated.

Hopefully, the next update brings a studio, cast, release window, or at least a visual of Leonardo so we can begin making responsible and completely rational judgments about him.
