Romance anime fans officially have another series to add to the increasingly dangerous 2027 watchlist. Agri Uma’s music-centered romance manga Studio Cabana is getting a television anime adaptation, with the series currently scheduled to begin broadcasting sometime in 2027.

The announcement arrived alongside the anime’s first teaser visual, initial staff information and the confirmation of its first cast member. Animation studio JUVENAGE will handle production on the upcoming series.

An exact premiere date has not been revealed yet, but this already sounds like the kind of emotional high school romance that will have viewers building entire playlists while making questionable decisions about fictional musicians.

What Is Studio Cabana About?

Studio Cabana follows Yukari Maki, a serious and painfully honest high school student who has somehow been assigned the unofficial job of dealing with her troublesome classmate, Yusuke Kusaka.

Yusuke is handsome, intimidating and surrounded by enough mysterious delinquent energy to keep most of his classmates at a safe distance. Yukari, however, is not particularly interested in being intimidated by him. She is one of the only students willing to confront Yusuke when he causes problems or ignores his responsibilities.

Although Yukari initially believes the two of them have absolutely nothing in common, her opinion begins to change when she sees Yusuke enter a music studio after school. She follows him and discovers a side of him that no one at school seems to know exists.

Yusuke is not simply the rude and distant class delinquent. He is also the vocalist and lyricist for a band called the oops, performing inside the music studio known as Studio Cabana.

After hearing him sing, Yukari begins looking at Yusuke differently, and the relationship between the two classmates slowly starts to shift. What follows is described as a bittersweet coming-of-age romance shaped by music, hidden emotions and two teenagers who were never supposed to become part of each other’s lives.

So, naturally, everything about this has “prepare to become emotionally attached to the brooding band boy” written all over it.

The First Studio Cabana Anime Visual Has Been Released

The anime’s newly released teaser visual features Yukari and Yusuke during an early rooftop scene from the story.

It also includes a romantic tagline that essentially asks what these overwhelming feelings could possibly be if they are not love. Subtle? Absolutely not. Effective? Unfortunately, yes.

The visual captures the soft, slightly melancholic atmosphere surrounding the series, with the announcement emphasizing the combination of music, youth and romance at the center of the story.

Sayumi Suzushiro Will Voice Yukari Maki

Sayumi Suzushiro has been confirmed as the voice of Yukari Maki in the television anime.

Suzushiro previously voiced Yukari in promotional videos and voice comics created for the original manga, meaning she will be returning to a character she has already portrayed for several years.

In a comment released with the announcement, Suzushiro explained that she first encountered Yukari through a Studio Cabana manga promotional video released in 2022. She also praised the manga’s artwork, atmosphere and the deeper emotions hidden beneath its characters’ interactions.

Suzushiro said she plans to carefully portray the way Yukari is emotionally shaken and gradually changed after meeting Yusuke.

Koki Uchiyama previously voiced Yusuke in promotional material for the manga. However, his involvement in the television anime has not been officially confirmed. At the moment, Suzushiro is the only anime cast member listed on the official website.

The production is also holding an audition connected to Yusuke’s singing performer, along with a planned fan-voting project. More information about Yusuke’s anime voice and musical performances will presumably be revealed as production continues.

Studio Cabana Anime Staff Revealed

Shinichirō Ushijima will direct the Studio Cabana anime, while Sawako Hirabayashi will handle series composition.

Haruka Sagawa will serve as the anime’s character designer, and JUVENAGE will produce the animation.

The original manga’s creator, Agri Uma, also shared a message celebrating the adaptation. Uma explained that Studio Cabana is an especially important story that had been developing in their mind since before they became a professional manga artist.

After imagining Yukari, Yusuke and the rest of the characters for years, seeing them move and speak through an anime adaptation has understandably made the announcement feel surreal.

The Manga Is Coming to English Readers

Written and illustrated by Agri Uma, Studio Cabana began serialization through the Pixiv Sylph label in June 2021.

Eight collected volumes had been released in Japan as of November 2025. Volume 9 is scheduled to arrive in Japan on August 21, 2026. The series was also nominated in the web manga category of the 2023 Next Manga Awards.

Yen Press has licensed Studio Cabana for an English-language release. The first English volume is scheduled to be released digitally and in paperback on December 15, 2026. This gives international readers a chance to meet Yukari and Yusuke shortly before the anime arrives.

No specific broadcast month, episode count or international streaming platform has been announced for the Studio Cabana anime yet.

For now, all we know is that the adaptation is coming in 2027, the main girl’s voice actress is already locked in and a mysterious musician with emotional baggage is waiting in the wings.

Romance anime has summoned another beautiful problem, and I fear we will be watching.
