Okay, I need everyone who thought The Quintessential Quintuplets was done to take a seat for a second … because fans just got hit with back-to-back good news and it honestly feels a little unreal.
First, Crunchyroll quietly dropped both of the recent specials. Then, out of nowhere, we get confirmation that not one—but two brand-new anime projects are officially in the works.
If you’ve been riding with the Nakano sisters since the beginning, yeah … You’re being fed right now.
Two New Anime Projects Are Officially Happening
Following a fan event in Tokyo, it was revealed that two new anime projects are currently in production for The Quintessential Quintuplets — and one of them is exactly what fans have been hoping for.
The first project is a brand-new TV anime series adapting the Four Seasons light novel. This story focuses on the Nakano sisters during their final year of high school, which means we’re getting more actual episodes… not just a one-off continuation.
Yes. New episodes. Not a recap. Not a “what if.” Actual new content.
The second project is a new anime special that will adapt previously unadapted chapters from the original story. If you’ve ever felt like certain moments were skipped or rushed, this is likely where those gaps start getting filled in.
As of now, there’s no confirmed release date or production staff attached to either project — but honestly, fans are just relieved the story isn’t over.
And Yes … The Recent Specials Just Hit Crunchyroll
As if that announcement wasn’t enough, Crunchyroll also recently made both of the newer specials available to stream, meaning fans can finally catch up on everything in one place.
The Quintessential Quintuplets∽ (2023) and The Quintessential Quintuplets* (2024) are now streaming across multiple regions, including North America, Europe, and more, with a wide range of subtitle options.
So if you missed them before — or just never got around to watching them—you’ve now got zero excuses. The content is literally sitting there waiting for you.

A Quick Look Back at the Specials
The first special, The Quintessential Quintuplets∽, was directed by Yukihiro Miyamoto at studio SHAFT and originally released in theaters in July 2023 before airing on TV later that year.
The second special, The Quintessential Quintuplets*, followed in 2024 with Masato Jinbo directing at Bibury Animation Studio, again starting with a theatrical release before making its way to television.
Both projects continued expanding on the story beyond what fans saw in the main seasons and movie — and now they’re easier than ever to watch thanks to their Crunchyroll release.
If You’ve Never Watched It, Here’s the Deal
The Quintessential Quintuplets follows Uesugi Fuutarou, a high school student who takes on a tutoring job to help support himself — only to find out his students are five identical sisters from his own class.
They’re all struggling academically. They all hate studying. And somehow, it’s his job to get them to graduate.
What starts as a simple tutoring gig quickly turns into a chaotic mix of comedy, rivalry, emotional moments, and slow-burn relationships that kept fans hooked all the way through the movie finale.
Honestly? This Is the Best Time to Be a Fan
Between the specials finally hitting streaming and two new anime projects now confirmed, it really does feel like The Quintessential Quintuplets is having a full-on comeback moment.
Whether you’ve been here since day one or you fell off after the movie, this is probably the perfect time to jump back in — because clearly, this story isn’t done yet.
