Well, BL fans, we have another one to add to the watchlist. Here U Are, the completed manhua written and illustrated by Djun, is officially getting an anime adaptation.
Crunchyroll announced the news on July 3, confirming that it will stream the upcoming Here U Are anime. A release date has not been announced yet, so for now we are in that very familiar anime fan purgatory where we stare at one announcement and immediately start acting like detectives with too much caffeine.
Still, this is a pretty exciting one.
Here U Are was published by Dongman Manhua and has built a loyal following among BL readers. It is also a completed series, which is always nice because, personally, I do enjoy knowing the source material actually has an ending instead of wandering into the void while I emotionally rot on a cliffhanger.
What Is Here U Are About?
Here U Are follows Yu Yang, a second-year college student majoring in design. He is helpful, well-liked, and often assists new students on campus. During registration duties, he ends up helping Li Huan, a tall, quiet, and intimidating newcomer who does not exactly give off warm sunshine puppy energy at first glance.
Li Huan is the kind of character people tend to misunderstand immediately. He is quiet, distant, and has been described as taciturn since childhood. He also towers over people at 196cm, which makes his already reserved personality feel even more intimidating to those around him.
But because this is BL, and because I am personally weak for “he looks scary but is actually soft in ways that will destroy me,” Yu Yang eventually starts to see that Li Huan is not as cold as he appears.
The story begins with Yu Yang helping new students register and coming across Li Huan’s luggage. Looking back, Yu Yang realizes this was the day he bumped into someone who would become very special to him. From there, the series follows their college life, military training exercises, emotional walls, awkward closeness, and the slow process of actually understanding another person instead of judging them by their first impression.

Why This Anime Announcement Matters
The most interesting part of this announcement is not just that Here U Are is getting animated. It is that a BL manhua is getting this kind of anime adaptation spotlight.
BL anime has definitely had more attention in recent years, but adaptations still feel painfully limited compared to how massive the BL readership actually is. There are so many manga, manhwa, and manhua titles sitting there with devoted fanbases, and yet the anime industry often acts like giving BL fans more than crumbs might summon a demon. A beautifully dressed demon, probably, but still.
That is why this announcement is already catching attention from fans who know the source material. There is not a massive wave of reactions yet since the news is still fresh, but the early response has been very positive. One Reddit user summed up the excitement by writing, “I’m actually suprised because I never expected studios to animate a BL manhua. And this is a really good manhua too. Hope it means they are finally investing in more BL anime as well.”
Honestly? Same energy.
If this adaptation does well, it could be a good sign for fans hoping to see more BL titles make the jump from page to screen, especially stories outside the usual Japanese manga pipeline. That does not mean we need to start declaring a new golden age after one announcement, but it is absolutely worth paying attention to.
Who Are the Main Characters?
Yu Yang is a second-year college student who majors in design. He is the type of upperclassman who helps new students, takes responsibility seriously, and generally seems to be well-liked. He can get irritated when younger students are disrespectful, which feels pretty fair because college freshmen are sometimes tiny chaos goblins with backpacks.
Li Huan, meanwhile, is eighteen years old, quiet, and emotionally closed off. He plays the piano, usually by himself, and has considered leaving college because he does not feel especially connected to life there. But he is also far more observant and considerate than people initially realize. He notices when something is wrong with Yu Yang, and he also picks up on another student being pressured by others, stepping in quietly to help him avoid an uncomfortable situation.
Basically, Li Huan is not actually the cold giant people assume he is. He is just locked behind several emotional doors, and Yu Yang happens to be standing there with the plot key.
When Will the Here U Are Anime Come Out?
Right now, there is no confirmed release date for the Here U Are anime. Crunchyroll has confirmed that it will stream the series, but fans will have to wait for more details about the staff, cast, trailer, and premiere window.
For now, the important thing is that Here U Are is officially getting an anime adaptation, and for BL fans who have been waiting for more heartfelt, character-driven romances to get animated, this is very good news.
And yes, I will absolutely be watching for updates because once a quiet giant and a helpful design major enter the chat, I am legally obligated to investigate.
