The wait is over for Kazuya and Chizuru fans. Rent-a-Girlfriend Season 6 has officially been confirmed to be in production following the conclusion of Season 5.
Alongside the announcement, the series released a new celebratory visual illustrated by character designer Kanna Hirayama. The upcoming season will adapt the manga’s highly anticipated Cohabitation Arc, bringing Kazuya, Chizuru, and Mini under the same roof for even more romantic chaos.
While a sixth season was not entirely unexpected given the franchise’s popularity, the confirmation means fans can officially look forward to the next chapter in one of anime’s longest-running modern romantic comedies.
Rent-a-Girlfriend Season 6 Will Adapt the Cohabitation Arc
According to the official announcement, Rent-a-Girlfriend Season 6 will adapt the manga’s Cohabitation Arc.
The arc places Kazuya in an unexpected living arrangement with Chizuru and Mini, creating plenty of opportunities for awkward encounters, emotional moments, and the kind of romantic misunderstandings that the series has become known for.
To celebrate the announcement, the anime released a special illustration by character designer Kanna Hirayama. The artwork features Kazuya, Chizuru, and Mini raising a glass together. Fans will also notice tiny appearances from Mami, Ruka, and Sumi hidden within the illustration.
At the time of reporting, no release date or broadcast window for Season 6 has been announced.

Returning Staff for Rent-a-Girlfriend Season 6
Several key staff members are expected to return following their work on Season 5.
Kazuomi Koga returned to direct Rent-a-Girlfriend Season 5 at TMS Entertainment. The season also featured series composition by Mitsutaka Hirota, character designs by Kanna Hirayama, and music by Kenichi Maeyamada.
The anime first premiered in July 2020 and has continued steadily ever since. Koga has directed every season except Season 3, which was directed by Shinya Une.
The original manga is created by Reiji Miyajima and remains one of Kodansha’s most recognizable romance series.
Fans React to the Season 6 Announcement
As expected, the Season 6 announcement quickly generated strong reactions across social media and anime communities.
Longtime fans celebrated the news, but many viewers responded with the mixture of disbelief and humor that has become synonymous with discussions surrounding Rent-a-Girlfriend.
One Reddit user jokingly asked whether the announcement was “an announcement or a warning,” prompting another fan to simply reply, “a threat.”
Other viewers poked fun at the series’ famously slow-burn pacing. One fan described reading the manga as “my personal purgatory,” while another joked that Rent-a-Girlfriend would continue “until birthrates improve.”
Some anime fans also expressed surprise that the series is heading into a sixth season while many other romance anime never receive a second installment.
Still, despite the memes and playful criticism, reaching six seasons is an impressive achievement for any anime series. Love it or hate-watch it, Rent-a-Girlfriend continues to attract attention whenever a new season is announced.

Where to Watch Rent-a-Girlfriend
Crunchyroll currently streams all five previous seasons of Rent-a-Girlfriend.
The streaming platform describes the series:
“Kinoshita Kazuya is a 20-year-old failure of a college student. He managed to kiss his girlfriend once, but was dumped after a month.
Completely spiteful, Kazuya uses a certain method to date a girl. He goes to their meeting place and suddenly hears, ‘You’re Kazuya-kun, right?’ A beautiful girl brushing her long, black hair behind her ear was there, smiling at him. Her name was Mizuhara Chizuru. Something real is born after just a single rental! A reckless rom-com filled with love and excitement is about to begin!”
No streaming details for Rent-a-Girlfriend Season 6 have been announced yet. More information, including a release date, is expected to be revealed at a later date.
