The story starts when Indy meets a guy named Joel on a dating app. They go on a few dates, but something feels off the whole time. Joel is polite, but he’s also weirdly distant. What I Loved About My Wrong Number

What made this one work for me was the fact that it did not just rely on the wrong-number trope and call it a day. The book actually makes the most of that setup. The accidental dirty texting is funny on its own, but once Indy and Cal meet in person, the whole thing gets even better.

The comedy is a huge part of why I liked this so much. Some romances are spicy, some are cute, and some are funny, but this one managed to blend all three in a way that felt really entertaining. There were a few moments that had me doing a full-on muffled screech because the situation was just so ridiculous in the best way.

I also really liked that the story felt satisfying. There are a few side characters who stir up drama and create some frustrating moments, but it never felt like the book lost the fun energy that made it work. The trouble adds tension without taking over the whole story.

This one lands at four peppers for me.

It gets dangerously close to five because there are a lot of spicy scenes, and the chemistry between Indy and Cal is definitely there. This is not one of those romances where you wait forever for the heat. The attraction shows up early, and the book does not hold back when it comes to giving readers adult content.

That said, I could not quite give it five peppers because the scenes felt a little fast for me. Some of them were over in a page or two, and I found myself wishing they would slow down and sit in those moments longer. I wanted a little more detail, a little more buildup, and a little more time spent letting the scenes breathe.

There were also a few moments where the book basically tells you Indy and Cal spent the night together or “made love all night,” but then skips over the actual scene details. As somebody who was fully invested in the spicy parts by then, that was a bit of a tease. I wanted the camera to stay on a little longer instead of cutting away.

So for me, this is a very solid four-pepper romance. Definitely spicy, definitely heated, and very close to five, but not quite detailed enough in the intimate scenes for me to give it that top rating.
