In your quest to find a money-making app like Benjamin, you may stumble across a recommendation called the Copper banking app. How is the app a banking app and a money-making app? Is Copper legit or a scam? How does the app pay you?

To date, Mom Unfiltered has banked over $150 with the Benjamin app. Presently, it is a money-making app we recommend more than anything else. So, we understand the urge to find other apps like it. After all, you could be doing pretty well for yourself if you could find a few apps that help you make that kind of money. So, we stumbled across Copper and, of course, had to try it.

So, is this an alternative for Benjamin? Keep reading for our review on whether Copper Banking is a legit money-making app or a scam.

What Is This App, Anyway?

This particular app was particularly designed for iPhones. Unfortunately, this means Android users are not going to benefit from reading any further. Sorry.

The app offers the opportunity to “earn money” and “make bank.” However, it is important to remember that Copper is not actually a financial institute. It’s a financial tech company. The developer is called “NEXT Financial Inc.” Per the App Store, this is the only app the developer has ever released.

Overall, the app has been rated over 60,000 times by iPhone users. The app has an average rating of 4.8 out of 5 stars. Furthermore, the detailed reviews are pretty promising. Several reviews note it is one of the better apps they’ve ever downloaded to earn some extra cash.

Copper Banking App LEgit?

Does Copper Work Well As A Banking App?

I will say there are a lot of negative reviews regarding its function as a banking app. A lot of parents have claimed they were not very happy with the debit card set-up they tried to get for their teens. I’m going to level with you here, I can’t really comment or review on that aspect of the app because I didn’t test it. I didn’t download this app with the intention of using it as a banking service. I am purely testing the app on its claims of allowing you to make money.  To be completely honest, given the reviews, I probably wouldn’t use it as a banking app.

Copper Review: Legit Or Scam?

I can definitely report that the Copper Banking App is not a scam. At least when it comes to the money-making aspect of it. The app does give you a daily login credit bonus. Just open the app and you will get one credit applied to your account every day. (You need 500 credits to cash out).

You can get credits from completing surveys, completing tasks, and playing games. Like Benjamin, I believe the games are ultimately where the earning thrives. After I downloaded my first game I received a special offer. Make an in-app purchase and get 300 credits. Now, the game I downloaded had in-app purchases for $1. So, I realized I could make an in-app purchase and get the money I spent back plus a profit. I decided it was worth the dollar to risk it.

Technical Issue, Customer Service Experience

Now, here’s where things got a little dicey for me. I made the in-app purchase and then tried to upload the receipt confirming that to the app. I did it several times and kept getting an error message. Eventually, it told me I tried too many times and couldn’t submit it anymore. I was ready to write the app off as a scam at this point. But, I decided to email customer support and give them a chance to explain the situation.

Initially, I did not get a positive response from customer service. They claimed the in-app rewards were automatic and attached to the game. They had no control over them. I, however, explained this was actually an offer that Copper made to me directly. It wasn’t a milestone on the page where you claim the games. I sent in screenshots of everything. It was the weekend, so several days did go by before I got another response.

To my surprise, they said they would “make an exception” and they added the 300 credit to my account. Customer service explained that the purchase didn’t work because I had made more than one purchase in the app store that day. Multiple charges on the receipt confused the system. Something to keep in mind if you get an offer like that

Cashing Out: Does Copper Pay?

Now, this is the reason you are here right? Is Copper legit or a scam? Is this app an alternative to Benjamin? If you earn 500 credits, will you get paid? After receiving the in-app 300 credit, I finally had enough to cash out. So, I hit the cash-out button to see what my options were. Copper functions on gift cards. The app has dozens of gift cards you can choose as your reward. Most of the gift cards are $5 (500 credits). But, there were a few that were $10 (1,000 credits).

For the purpose of convenience, I decided to get an Amazon gift card. I buy something from Amazon at least once a week, so, I knew this wasn’t a gift card that would go to waste. It is also a gift card you can test pretty quickly because you claim Amazon gift cards and apply them to a gift card balance on your account for future use.

Anyway, I hit the button to claim the Amazon gift card, and here is where things took a surprise for me. The payout was instant. I pushed the button, went to another page, and the app instantly gave me a claim code for my Amazon gift card. Then, I grabbed the code, went to my account, and applied it. I immediately had access to the $5. Who doesn’t like an instant payment? From what I’ve read on the reviews, the other gift cards come pretty instantly too.

Unfortunately, the app does not have a bank transfer or PayPal option. It does, however, have a prepaid VISA option. So, you can get a prepaid VISA card that you can spend anywhere that takes VISA.

If I’m being honest, Walmart, VISA, and the Amazon gift card are probably the only three options I will withdraw from this app. But, there are dozens of other options if those aren’t for you.

Is Copper An Alternative To Benjamin?

So, is this app comparable to Benjamin? Is it something you should also have on your phone? Will you make money the same way you make money with Benjamin?

Honestly? I don’t think you are going to make as much money with this app as you do with Benjamin. Benjamin has a cashback function on every purchase you make with all of your debit cards. Copper doesn’t have anything like that.

I do think it makes a good secondary app for earning a little extra cash. Plus, if you get into a routine where you have a group of apps you log in to every day for some residual earnings, you should put this on the list. Like Eureka and Branded, you’ll also make $0.01 per day just by opening this app.

Copper Banking App for Teens

In addition, one of the main benefits that Benjamin has over Copper is its option to cash out via bank deposit. The Copper Banking app only offers gift cards – not a horrible option but, if you are hard up for cash to help you with bills – gift cards aren’t going to help you.

Mommy Approved?

Overall, the Copper Banking app is approved by this mommy. While I can’t recommend it as an actual banking app, it is a legit way to make money. So, you should download it and give it a chance if you are looking for a little extra cash.
