Perfect Addiction fans finally have premiere news, and the upcoming boys’ love light anime now has its main cast, staff, and release window confirmed.
The BL romance series, based on Kaoruko Miyama’s manga of the same name, is set to premiere in July 2026 on tvk. The adaptation will be produced as a “light anime,” a format that has been getting more attention lately as more manga titles receive lower-motion, voice-driven animated adaptations.
For BL fans, though, the big news is simple: Perfect Addiction is officially moving from the page to the screen.
‘Perfect Addiction’ Premiere Details Confirmed for the BL Light Anime
The Perfect Addiction premiere is currently planned for July 2026, with the series airing on tvk in Japan.
The light anime will star Yōhei Azakami as Akihito Kuji and Sōma Saitō as Sae Takatsuki. That casting alone gives the adaptation a little extra sparkle, especially for viewers who follow voice actors closely and know how much a BL adaptation can depend on chemistry, delivery, and emotional tension.
The series will be directed by Akashi Uozomi, with Izumi Tezuka handling series composition. Music will be composed by Midori Narikiyo, while animation production is being handled by Imagica Infos and Imageworks Studio.
What Is Perfect Addiction About?
Perfect Addiction follows Akihito and Sae, two college students who are both popular with women but have very different experiences with romance and desire.
Akihito is more outgoing and has a reputation as a playboy, while Sae is cooler, more reserved, and inexperienced in love. After Sae opens up to Akihito about being gay and struggling with intimacy, the two begin a physical relationship that slowly turns into something more emotional.
So yes, this is absolutely a BL setup built on tension, vulnerability, and the classic “these two are definitely going to catch feelings” spiral.
The original manga has been serialized in Kaiohsha’s Gush boys’ love magazine since April 2022 and has been collected into four volumes as of March 2026. Seven Seas Entertainment has also licensed the manga for English release, giving international readers a way to follow the story outside Japan.

Why the “Light Anime” Format Has Fans Talking
The Perfect Addiction adaptation is being produced under the boys’ love label Balloon as a light anime, which is where some anime fans may have questions.
A light anime is not usually the same thing as a fully animated television anime. It often uses a more limited animation style, closer to moving manga panels with voice acting, music, and visual effects. Think of it as somewhere between a manga, an audio drama, and an animated adaptation.
That format has sparked mixed reactions online. Some fans are excited that more niche manga, especially BL titles, are getting screen adaptations at all. Others are less thrilled, arguing that light anime can feel too limited compared with traditional animation.
Still, for a romance-heavy series like Perfect Addiction, the format could work if the voice performances and pacing sell the emotional pull between Akihito and Sae.
BL Fans Have a New Summer 2026 Release to Watch
The anime landscape has been increasingly crowded, but BL adaptations still feel rare enough that each new announcement gets attention. That makes Perfect Addiction one to watch, especially with its college romance setup and emotionally charged premise.
The July 2026 premiere window also gives fans time to check out the original manga before the adaptation arrives.
Whether the light anime format ends up winning everyone over remains to be seen, but Perfect Addiction now has a confirmed premiere window, main cast, and production team in place. For BL fans hungry for more adaptations, that alone is enough to put this one on the radar.
