HeyPiggy Review: Does This Survey App Actually Pay, or Is It a Waste of Time?
If you’re looking for an easy way to make money online, you’ve probably come across HeyPiggy, a survey app that claims to pay users for sharing their opinions. But is HeyPiggy legit, or is it just another app that undervalues your time?
I downloaded and tested the HeyPiggy app firsthand. I completed surveys, looked at real user reviews, and tracked how long it would actually take to reach a payout. I didn’t cash out — not because HeyPiggy doesn’t pay, but because it honestly wasn’t worth the time.
So, does HeyPiggy pay real money? Yes, it does. But should you spend your time on it? Absolutely not. Here’s everything you need to know before signing up.
What Is HeyPiggy and How Does It Work?
HeyPiggy is a survey app available for iOS and Android that connects users with paid survey opportunities. Here’s how it works:
- Sign up and create an account
- Get matched with available surveys
- Complete surveys and earn small payments
- Cash out via PayPal once you reach the $5 minimum withdrawal
On paper, it sounds simple. The reality is not convenient or profitable.
HeyPiggy Review: Legit or a Scam?
I’m putting HeyPiggy in the “scam” category, not because it never pays, but because your time is worth way more than what this app offers.
Yes, HeyPiggy does pay some users, but there are major red flags:
- Extremely low pay – Most surveys pay between $0.10 and $0.50, making it nearly impossible to earn a meaningful amount.
- Account lockouts – Some users report their accounts being locked when they attempt to cash out.
- Survey disqualifications – Many surveys kick you out after several questions, and you get nothing for that time.
- Inconsistent survey availability – Some people get lots of surveys. Some barely get any.
If you’re looking for a real way to earn money, there are much better options than wasting hours on HeyPiggy for pennies.
My Experience Using HeyPiggy
I downloaded HeyPiggy, created an account, and completed three surveys. The total earnings? $0.69.
That means:
- At least 20–25 surveys are needed just to reach the $5 minimum withdrawal.
- Each survey took 5 to 20 minutes, so I would have to spend 2 to 9 hours just to cash out once.
- The estimated earning rate was $0.55 to $3.45 per hour — which is far below minimum wage.
At that point, I stopped testing because no amount of money was worth spending more time on this app.

Common Complaints From HeyPiggy Users
Beyond low pay, people using the app point out a few repeat problems.
Account Lockouts
Some users report that their accounts were locked when they tried to withdraw their earnings, which means they just lose the time they put in.
Survey Disqualifications
A frequent complaint is that you’ll get disqualified partway through a survey, even after answering multiple questions. You’re not paid for disqualified surveys, so that time is gone.
Inconsistent Survey Availability
Some users seem to get a steady flow of surveys. Others struggle to find any opportunities at all, which makes this a very unreliable “side hustle.”
Yes, some people have managed to cash out. But the frustration level is high and the rewards are tiny.
Does HeyPiggy Pay Real Money?
Yes, HeyPiggy does technically pay real money if you reach the $5 cash-out minimum. But between disqualifications, low payouts, and reported lockouts, getting paid is not a sure thing.
If you’re serious about making money, don’t get so desperate that you sink your whole day into something like this. There are better and faster ways to earn extra cash.

HeyPiggy’s Referral Program: Not as Good as It Sounds
HeyPiggy does offer a referral program, but much like the rest of the app, it’s underwhelming and restrictive. Here’s how it works:
- You earn 10% of your referral’s survey earnings — but only for their first 10 surveys and only within the first 7 days after they sign up. After that, the bonus ends.
- You can also earn a flat bonus per referral, but there’s a catch — your referral has to complete 10 surveys before you get anything.
- If your referral is in the U.S., you get $2.50. In many other countries, it drops all the way down to $0.75 per referral, which is barely worth the effort.
In other words, unless you’re sending people who are guaranteed to grind 10 surveys in their first week, you’re not making much at all. Compared to other survey apps that offer lifetime commissions on referrals, HeyPiggy’s program is pretty disappointing.
Note: I think so little of this app and this referral setup that I’m not even bothering to drop a referral code here. The app doesn’t even offer a normal referral link — you have to hope someone manually types in your code, and most people just don’t do that extra step.
Better Alternatives to HeyPiggy
Instead of wasting time on HeyPiggy, I highly recommend trying these instead:
- Benjamin – A high-quality rewards app with legitimate payouts.
- Eureka – A survey app that actually values your time with better pay rates.
- Branded Surveys – One of the more reputable survey platforms with higher earnings and fewer disqualifications.
- Scrambly.io – A flexible option with a user-friendly dashboard and multiple earning choices.
If you’re trying to make real money from your phone, these are all much better than HeyPiggy.
Final Verdict: Is HeyPiggy Worth It?
I tested HeyPiggy, and while it does technically pay, I do not recommend it.
- HeyPiggy does pay real money, but getting to cash out takes way too long.
- You’re looking at around $0.55 to $3.45 per hour, which is not worth your time.
- Expect survey disqualifications and possible account issues when you try to cash out.
- There are better-paying apps and side hustles that respect your time more.
Final verdict: Not worth it. Don’t waste hours grinding for a few cents when better options exist.
Would you still try HeyPiggy, or have you had a different experience? Drop it in the comments — I’d love to hear what actually worked (or didn’t) for you.
